Elopement Shoot

I am so excited to share this photoshoot I was a part of earlier this year!  And the best part is that it was featured on Inspired By This!  So exciting.  Polka Dot Cake by Cassidy Budge Cake Design

I loved everything about this shoot from the moody florals to the polka dot dress.

I loved the dress so much I decided to mimic the design onto the cake.  Also I just had to make a sugar Dahlia because they are a favorite of mine.

This team was incredibly talented and I am honored to have worked with them.  Now here are the photos!

Greg & Lisa’s Wedding Cake

White Rose Cake by Cassidy Budge Cake Design

Lisa and Greg were a joy to work with.  Lisa knew exactly what she was looking for for her wedding cake and I loved the idea.  I had made a two tier version of this cake back in December but I think I love the three tier version the best.  Im a sucker for tall cakes and I also love that each tier of this cake was a different flavor.

Im in love with the giant sugar flower and the cascading petals all the way down the side of this cake.  There is something that is so elegant about it.

The flowers and greenery were assembled on top and around the cake after I delivered it to the reception.  I could not believe how cute the two little love birds looked on top of the cake.  I died.  This is one for the books for sure.

Thank you Lisa and Greg for letting me make you wedding cake!

Vanessa’s Ruffle Cake

White Ruffle Cake with Coral Peonies by Cassidy Budge Cake Design

This beautiful Ruffle cake was for my childhood friend Vanessa.  We go way back, back to kindergarten.  So when she asked me to make her wedding cake I was so excited!  I wasn’t surprised when she told me she wanted a ruffle cake because it is so popular right now.  And I’m loving it.

We all know how much I love sugar flowers, and I loved making these coral peonies.  Peonies don’t typically come in this color but that didn’t stop me from making them coral.  That is the fun part of making sugar flowers.  They don’t always have to be exactly how they are found in nature.

Ashbee’s Lace Cake

White Lace Wedding Cake by Cassidy Budge Cake Design

This cake might be one of my favorite cakes that I’ve made so far. I love the simplicity of it and I love the white lace on top of the white fondant.  Plus she wanted a chocolate cake with caramel buttercream.  So delicious!

Ashbee is the niece of a family friend and she lives in Wyoming. So this cake made a three hour journey to Wyoming on the lap of her mother, who happened to be in Utah the morning of the wedding.  Her mom and aunt offered to transport the cake,  and it made the trip safely and looked beautiful when it got there.  Everyone was happy, especially me.  It was kind of hard to give up the control of delivering the cake but they both did an awesome job.  And once I knew the cake was at the reception I breathed a huge sigh of relief.

A special thanks to my second family, the Parkers, for letting me steal some roses off of their rose bush.  Ashbee was going to put her own flowers on the cake once it arrived to Wyoming.  So, these are my substitute flowers.

Shelby’s Succulent Wedding Cake

Succulent Ruffle Wedding Cake with Craspedia (billy balls) and Chrysanthemums by Cassidy Budge Cake Design

Okay, Succulents might be my new favorite thing.  I totally understand why people get so addicted to these little guys.  I was so excited when Shelby told me that the flowers she was using in her wedding were Chrysanthemums, Billy Balls, and Succulents.  I love Mums and Billy Balls  but I had never made sugar Succulents before.  I love a challenge though.  And I think they turned out pretty cute.  The square ruffles are kind of new and exciting too.

Sugar flowers are always my favorite thing to make when it comes to wedding cakes.  I love when brides ask me to transform the flowers they are using in their bouquets into sugar flowers for their cakes.

As always, these beautiful photos were taken by Cassidy Tuttle.  She is an incredible photographer with an addiction to Succulents!  She has an awesome website called Succulents and Sunshine where she teaches you all about these little plants and the fun things you can do with them.  Head on over to her website and check it out.  She’s a very talented lady.

Sarah & Joey’s Ombre Wedding Cake

Ombre Cake by Cassidy Budge Cake Design

Sarah and I go way back, back to the days of awkward Jr. High and High School choirs and even back to school plays.  So when Sarah asked me to make her wedding cake I was so excited!  She had been telling me for years that she wanted me to make her cake.  So I couldn’t refuse, not for Sarah.  I just love her too much.

She showed me a photo of a couple cakes she couldn’t decide between and the second I saw this one I knew it was perfect for her.  This is Sarah in cake form.  She is bright and bubbly, and happy and loud, and unique.  This cake was going to be perfect for her colorful wedding.

Sarah wanted vanilla cake with strawberry jam filling.  It was simple and delicious.  And she even let me make the whimsical roses out of sugar!  I love when brides let me make sugar flowers.      I think they make the cakes so unique.

Thank you so much Sarah and Joey for letting me be a part of your special day!

Ashley & Tanner’s Ivory and Coral Wedding Cake

Ivory and Coral Flower Cake by Cassidy Budge Cake Design

This is a cake I made this last weekend for Ashley and Tanner’s wedding.  And I am so in love with this cake.  The bride wanted the cake to be lemon and red velvet with a cream cheese mousse as the filling.  Her colors were pale coral and mint green so I made the little flowers to match.  I’m pretty sure this might be one of my favorites, and also one of my largest cakes.  The venue, Wadley Farms, was gorgeous too.  The weather was also perfect.  All in all, a perfect day and a tasty cake.

I have a feeling coral is going to be everywhere this season too.  It is so pretty.

Delphinium Wedding Cake

Delphinium Wedding Cake by Cassidy Budge Cake Design

You know when you have a project that goes so perfect that you think in the last 2 minutes of being done you are for sure going to drop it and ruin it?  This was that project for me.  Baking, frosting, stacking, and decorating this cake was a dream.  I wish they could all be that way.  Luckily, Shannon’s cake made it to the reception safe and sound.

When Shannon asked me to make her cake she gave me complete control. The only thing she wanted was lemon cake.  The rest was completely up to me.  I loved it and stressed about it at the same time.  I had never been given complete creative control before!  It was so fun though!

Shannon was using light blue delphiniums in her bouquet so I decided that I was going to make some out of sugar for her cake.  I went through a trial and error period then finally settled on these flowers.  I loved the way this cake turned out.  It’s my favorite cake to date.  And can you see the doilies!  I’m obsessed!
