Sarah & Joey’s Ombre Wedding Cake

Ombre Cake by Cassidy Budge Cake Design

Sarah and I go way back, back to the days of awkward Jr. High and High School choirs and even back to school plays.  So when Sarah asked me to make her wedding cake I was so excited!  She had been telling me for years that she wanted me to make her cake.  So I couldn’t refuse, not for Sarah.  I just love her too much.

She showed me a photo of a couple cakes she couldn’t decide between and the second I saw this one I knew it was perfect for her.  This is Sarah in cake form.  She is bright and bubbly, and happy and loud, and unique.  This cake was going to be perfect for her colorful wedding.

Sarah wanted vanilla cake with strawberry jam filling.  It was simple and delicious.  And she even let me make the whimsical roses out of sugar!  I love when brides let me make sugar flowers.      I think they make the cakes so unique.

Thank you so much Sarah and Joey for letting me be a part of your special day!

Chase & Carlie’s Lace Wedding Cake

Flower Lace Cake by Cassidy Budge Cake Design

I made this cake for my cousin Chase and his wife Carlie.  We thought it would be really pretty to match the lace of the cake with the lace on her dress so that is what we did.  I think it turned out really beautiful.  I love the white lace on the cream buttercream.  It really makes the lace pop.

Carlie wanted all three of the tiers to be different flavors.  So the bottom was red velvet cake with vanilla bean buttercream filling.  The middle tier was lemon cake with raspberry buttercream filling and the top tier was vanilla cake with lemon buttercream filling.

I love making cakes for friends and family members because I get to be there when they cut the cake.  Without fail, every time I am at the reception when they cut the cake people always ask me if it makes me sad to see it cut into.  I always tell them no!  I love to see it get eaten.  The cake should be cut and served to the guests, that’s the fun part!  I love when the whole cake gets eaten.  It means that people loved it!

Thanks to Chase and Carlie for letting me have a part in their special day.  This was one of my favorites.
